Trustees
Village Rwanda UK is run by a small team of voluntary trustees who meet together regularly to determine the direction of the charity and make sure that every £ spent has the maximum impact.
This is Petronella, the new chair of Village Rwanda UK. She joined VRUK in 2021, and visited Rwanda in 2022. She has a background in charity governance and keeps us on the straight and narrow! She loves the way VRUK works with individuals to improve their lives. Petronella has just moved to North Yorkshire and is enjoying exploring the moors and the coast.
This is one of VRUK's newer trsutees. He says "I have been a Trustee at Village Rwanda for nearly 3 years. My focus at VRUK is developing the income generation projects and shouting about the great work going on in Gihombo.
My work background is in communications and In my spare time I enjoy playing and watching football and exploring new places by train. "
This is Tricia, one of the founding trustees of VRUK. She lived in Rwanda for two and half years working as an Education Management Advisor for Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO). Whilst she was there one of her Rwandan friends took her to visit his family in a remote rural area on the shores of Lake Kivu. This was the beginning of the adventure and the start of Village Rwanda UK. Tricia is now based in the North West of England and relishes the culture and landscape of the North.
This is Lynne, who is secretary to the trustees of VRUK and keeps records of all our plans and ideas. Her career was in education and when she retired she worked with her husband for VSO Rwanda promoting access to education for children with special educational needs. Lynne has been a trustee with Village Rwanda UK since 2015. She likes to spend time travelling and is a skilled linoprint artist.
This is Ruta, our newest trustee. He says "I joined Rwanda Village UK in 2023, driven by my passion for making a real difference. With my background in business, I focus on supporting practical projects that reduce poverty and bring hope to remote communities. My goal is to help build stronger, more resilient communities where people can succeed socially and economically, guided by the belief that true charity is an expression of God's love for all people."
Andy has been involved in the VRUK as Treasurer since 2023. He is a special needs teacher, Charity sector accountant and Foster parent. Andy loves that VRUK works in partnership with its Rwandan beneficiaries to develop projects which are self sustaining, helping them to achieve long term independence from outside aid.
