Rwandan Floods URGENT help needed
At the beginning of May, torrential rainfall has resulted in terrible flooding across NW Rwanda. This includes the area of Gihombo where Village Rwanda UK work. Having spoken to Theo, our VRUK coordinator in Rwanda, he has confirmed that the devastation is widespread. His photos are graphic.
We, at VRUK, need your contributions to help our friends. This will be not only to clear up the wreckage, but for families to prepare for building and living in safer areas away from flood risk zones.
Your money has already been used to build two new homes for families who were already living in high-risk areas. Each of those houses cost £1500 to build, but with rising costs it will now be £2150 per house.
In the part of Gihombo where we work, three homes have been totally destroyed. Several others have badly damaged walls and roofs. Families are being housed temporarily in schools and other local buildings. These people will now need to rebuild their houses in safer zones. Please help us to help them.
£5 will buy a day's labour
£10 will buy 100 bricks
£15 buys 3 tin roofing sheets.
So, anything you can spare will be much appreciated.
In just one week, £1400 has already been raised through your generosity, but we need more…
